Continuing Education Requirements

Hours Required
Life Health and Property Casualty Producers must complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years., of which 3 ethics credits are required.
Life and health Producers must complete courses in the Life and Health/General credit category.
Property and Casualty producers must complete courses in the Property Casualty/General Credit Category.
Producers licensed in both Life/Health and Property/Casualty may complete courses in any combination including Life Health / Property Casualty / or General credit category.
Title Agents must complete 8 hours of continuing education every two years in courses under the title category (must be title credits).

Exam Requirements
Self-study final exams no longer require a proctor. MO CE regulations were changed effective Sept 30, 2016. The regulation states that for self-study courses the individual must pass an exam. The regulation no longer states that it must be proctored.
Course Subject Requirements
• All LH and PC producers must complete a 3 hour course in ethics
• Producers selling Long Term Care Partnership policies must complete a one time eight hour training course and four hours of continuing education every four years.
• All Missouri licensed resident insurance producers who sell federal flood insurance policies are required to complete a one-time 3-credit course in flood.
Carryover Credits
Excess CE credit hours may be carried over to the next reporting period.
Course Repetition
Courses may not be taken more than once in each reporting period.
Exemptions
These requirements may be waived if:
- You have suffered a serious physical injury or illness
- You are on active duty in the Armed Forces for an extended time.
- You Reside outside the United States
- You Are age 70 or older
- Non-resident agents are exempt from the CE requirement if they are in compliance with the requirements of their home state.

Credit Reporting
Cape will submit your credit hours to SBS (State Based Systems) within 30 days of course completion. Course completion certificates are provided for your personal records.
