Hours Required

Continuing education is only required for resident insurance producers and adjusters. This includes insurance adjusters that have designated Louisiana as their “home state” for the purpose of licensing.  The requirements are as follows:

• 24 Hours for  Producers licensed in one or more lines of life, health and accident, property, casualty or personal lines

• CE Hours must include 3 hours of Ethics

• Property, Casualty, or Personal Lines must include 3 hours of Flood Education

Compliance Date

Louisiana uses a system of birth month renewals for insurance producer licenses issued to individuals. The DOI will notify each producer in advance of the impending expiration of their license by both standard and electronic mail.

Please click here for further information regarding renewal dates and the number of continuing education hours required for this renewal cycle. Please contact the DOI if you have any further questions.

Excess hours may be carried over to the next reporting period. For LH agents up to 6 excess hours and for PC agents up to 10 excess hours can be carried over.

No licensee may be granted credit for a program more than once during a 24-month period.
