Continuing Education Requirements

Virginia MCLE Boards requires the distance learning courses to be done in an educational setting, free from distractions.

 

  • MCLE DEADLINE: October 31, 2016
    Failure to complete 12 CLE hours including 2 hours in ethics/professionalism and 4 hours from live, interactive programs by October 31, 2016, will result in a $100 non-compliance fee.
     
  • MCLE REPORTING DEADLINE: December 16, 2016
    Failure to certify the required MCLE hours by December 16, 2016, will result in a $100 late filing fee.
     
  • NEW LATE FILING FEE: February 1, 2017
    Failure to certify the required MCLE hours by February 1, 2017, will result in an ADDITIONAL $100 late filing fee.


MCLE REPORTING DEADLINE: December 16 , 2016 - Failure to certify the required 12 CLE hours including 2 hours in ethics/professionalism by December 16, 2016 will result in a $100 late filing fee. (Part 6, Section IV, paragraph 19, Rules of the Virginia Supreme Court). After completing a course, send your completed certificate to:

CAPE does not report your credits. You are responsible for submitting the certificate.

Requirement: A maximum of 8.0 hours from pre-recorded courses may be applied to meet yearly requirement. Minimum of 4.0 hours from live interective (teleconference) courses required.

Q: Is CAPE a Virginia approved provider of CLE courses?
A: Yes

Q: CAPE's cost per credit is much lower than I am used to paying; what are the hidden charges?
A: None

Q: Do I need a high speed connection to the Internet?
A: No, for "audio courses" a high speed connection is not required. "Video courses" require DSL or Broadband.

Q: Will I be able to receive a certificate for each course that I complete?
A: Yes, upon completion of each course, you will be able to print a certificate.
